From 13 to 16 October 2026, CEDRE will take part in the International Oil Spill Science Conference (IOSSC 2026), in Montreal (Canada).

The International Oil Spill Science Conference (IOSSC) is one of the main international gatherings on scientific research regarding accidental pollution. This conference brings together an international crowd of researchers, pollution intervention bodies, public authorities, industry stakeholders and scholars to discuss scientific progress, operational feedbacks and innovations on pollution prevention, preparedness, and response. The IOSSC focuses on pollution caused by oil and hazardous and noxious substances (HNS) in the marine environment, in estuaries, in inland waters, and in arctic environments.

The scientific programme will touch on various subjects, such as intervention planning, the fate of oil, HNS and new fuels in the environment, mapping of pollutions, new detection and monitoring technologies, artificial intelligence applied to pollution management, environmental impacts and feedback from real life situations.

During the conference, CEDRE will present its work through three scientific interventions:

  • Advancing Knowledge of Marine Ammonia Spills Through Field Experiments
  • Experimental Investigation of Ammonia Fate in Freshwater and Implications for Spill Modelling and Risk Assessment
  • Fate of Biodiesel (HVO, FAME And GTL) and Biodiesel–Bunker Fuel Blends in Case of Accidental Spill in Marine Environment

These interventions will highlight CEDRE’s work on the behaviour of ammonia and alternative fuels in the event of involuntary spills in the environment. They will provide scientific knowledge on the risks linked to these new propulsion solutions and on the evolution of preparedness and intervention strategies. These interventions are part of the broader subject of energy transition.
